2024 PTC Executive Board - Positions Open
Would you like to be a part of decision-making for your PTC? Would you like to have your voice heard? We have several exciting opportunities for volunteers to lead the next PTC, beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. All positions are 2-year terms. If you're interested, please contact Joanne Routsolias at [email protected].
President - We are looking for our next president. If you would like to help preside over all meetings and help where needed, this is the position for you.
VP for Marie Murphy - We need a new VP for Marie Murphy. This position will be the liaison between the PTC and committees with Marie Murphy.
Secretary - Our secretary position is also open. This individual will take minutes in our meetings.
Treasurer - We need a new treasurer who will collect and receive all funds for the PTC.
Director of Volunteers - The director of volunteers position is also up for election. This will be our lead recruiter for all the events that we have during the school year.
Director of Communications - We are also searching for a new Director of Communications. This will only be a one-year term as the current holder will be moving out of the district. The Director of Communications will be the lead for all marketing and communications efforts for the PTC.

Summer Enrichment Programs
We have been informed by Wilmette District 39 that online registration for the upcoming Summer
Enrichment Programs (SEP) will open on Monday, February 19, 2024. Avoca students can
participate in Wilmette District 39’s programs. The link to register will become available on February
19 on Wilmette District 39’s website, starting at 8:00 a.m. Registration will close on Friday, March 22. Click here to read the full letter and for more information.

We Asked and then We Listened
We partnered with parents, community members, architects, and engineers to develop a proposal to improve Avoca schools. Join us at an open house to see firsthand why we are proposing to update Marie Murphy School and to build a new elementary school on the Marie Murphy campus.

Now Accepting 2023-2024 Innovation Grants Applications
Applications for the second round of Innovation Grants close this Friday, February 16, 2024. Applicants will be notified if they were successful by March 12, 2024. You can find more details and the application here.
5th Grade Party
The 5th grade party will be on Friday, May 31! Some friendly reminders:
- Don't forget to fill out the 5th Grade Party Form.
- We are kindly requesting $40 from each family to support the event. Payment options: Pay by card here (preferred), check payable to the Avoca PTC, or cash. Label your payment envelope with your child’s name and teacher. Have your child give this to their teacher or Venmo @clarey2k and include your student's full name.
- Submit a 4x6 physical copy of your child’s kindergarten photo with their name on the back to your class teacher. Email a digital copy of your child’s kindergarten photo with their name in the subject line to [email protected]. Please feel free to also add any other group pictures taken throughout your child's years at AW! These will be used for the video montage.
The deadline for forms, payment, and photos is March 29.
Silent Auction 2024
The event you have all been waiting for - the 2024 Avoca District 37 Silent Auction is officially open for bidding! Bid here.
New items will be regularly added to the auction, so please check for new items! All bids are donations and there are no refunds. All items have been donated by local businesses and organizations, and proceeds will be used for Innovation Grants and to fund PTC events and programs. The auction will end after the Fun Fair (February 25). We thank you for your support in our biggest fundraiser of the year! Happy bidding!

Volunteers Needed!
Are you looking to get more involved in the Avoca community? Avoca PTC has several leadership positions open:
- Movie Night Chair - needed to coordinate the 2024 Avoca movie night on May 10th!
- Art in Action Chair - needed to coordinate the 2025 Art in Action event
- Spirit Wear Liaison for the 2024-2025 year
- Marie Murphy Supply Kit Manager - we need a volunteer to run the school supply fundraiser for Marie Murphy, which includes ordering in March/April, and coordinating the delivery to classrooms before school starts in August.
