2023-2024 Illinois 5Essentials Survey Open!
This annual survey is given to all staff, students in fourth grade and up, and caregivers to gather feedback on our academics, overall climate and connection to one another, and leadership (at the building level and as a district). This input is combined to create an overall "grade/rating" for our school on our State Report Card. The real value of the 5Essentials survey is our ability to look at the feedback and set goals for where and how we'd like to improve our practices and systems. Take the survey here.

Silent Auction 2024
The Silent Auction is underway and ready for your bids! Bid here through March 3.
Keep an eye out for fresh additions to the auction lineup as new items are regularly introduced! Remember, every bid serves as a donation and is non-refundable. Generously contributed by local businesses and organizations, all items will contribute to Innovation Grants and support various PTC events and programs.
Your backing in our primary fundraiser of the year is immensely appreciated! Best of luck to all participants!
Fun Fair Thank You
The 2024 Fun Fair at Avoca West was held on Sunday, February 25, full of fun, games, prizes, and the Avoca community spirit. A BIG thank you from Erin Loder and the PTC to everyone who put their time and effort into making the Fun Fair a resounding success! It was a truly amazing day! It was so wonderful seeing all of the happy faces. This day could not have been possible without our volunteers and attendees. This event is one of our favorite traditions that brings friends and families together and this year was better than ever!
Are You Registered to Vote?
Avoca 37 is asking voters to consider a facility improvements referendum on the March 19 ballot, and every vote counts. If you or someone in your household still needs to register to vote you can find details at the Cook County Clerk's website here.
MM Author Visit
Marie Murphy welcomes Megan E. Freeman, the acclaimed author of Alone, a 2024 Rebecca Caudill nominee, on March 5. District staff and students can get a discount on Alone through The Book Stall, with orders due by February 29. For inquiries, reach out to Mrs. Stotz at [email protected].
2024 PTC Executive Board - Positions Open
Would you like to be a part of decision-making for your PTC? Would you like to have your voice heard? We have several exciting opportunities for volunteers to lead the next PTC, beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. All positions are 2-year terms. If you're interested, please contact Joanne Routsolias at [email protected].
President - We are looking for our next president. If you would like to help preside over all meetings and help where needed, this is the position for you.
VP for Marie Murphy - We need a new VP for Marie Murphy. This position will be the liaison between the PTC and committees with Marie Murphy.
Secretary - Our secretary position is also open. This individual will take minutes in our meetings.
Treasurer - We need a new treasurer who will collect and receive all funds for the PTC.
Director of Volunteers - The director of volunteers position is also up for election. This will be our lead recruiter for all the events that we have during the school year.
Director of Communications - We are also searching for a new Director of Communications. This will only be a one-year term as the current holder will be moving out of the district. The Director of Communications will be the lead for all marketing and communications efforts for the PTC.

5th Grade Party
Get ready for our exciting 5th-grade party set for Friday, May 31! Here are a few important things to remember:
- Complete the 5th Grade Party Form
- We appreciate your kind contribution of $40 per family to make this event a success. You can pay by card online, a check made out to Avoca PTC, or cash. Just label your payment with your child’s name and teacher, then hand it over to their teacher or Venmo @clarey2k. Don't forget to include your student's full name.
- Next, we'd love to stroll down memory lane with a 4x6 photo of your child from their kindergarten days. You can submit a physical copy to your class teacher or email a digital version to [email protected]. If you have any group photos from their time at AW, feel free to include those too. These precious memories will be part of our video montage.
We're counting on your forms, payments, and photos by March 29. Let's make this party an unforgettable experience for our 5th graders!
