Silent Auction 2024
The event you have all been waiting for - the 2024 Avoca District 37 Silent Auction is officially open for bidding! Bid here. The auction has been extended, and will now end on March 3.
New items will be regularly added to the auction, so please check for new items! All bids are donations and there are no refunds. All items have been donated by local businesses and organizations, and proceeds will be used for Innovation Grants and to fund PTC events and programs. We thank you for your support in our biggest fundraiser of the year! Happy bidding!
Planning for the Future
A community-driven process that started back in 2021 helped develop a proposal that will secure a future for generations of Avoca students by funding major improvements to Marie Murphy School and building a new Pre-K through fifth-grade school on the Marie Murphy campus. Voters are being asked to consider a bond referendum on the March 19 ballot to fund the proposal. Learn more about this community-created plan to improve our schools at www.allinforavoca37.org.
2024 PTC Executive Board - Positions Open
Would you like to be a part of decision-making for your PTC? Would you like to have your voice heard? We have several exciting opportunities for volunteers to lead the next PTC, beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. All positions are 2-year terms. President - We are looking for our next president. If you would like to help preside over all meetings and help where needed, this is the position for you.
VP for Marie Murphy - We need a new VP for Marie Murphy. This position will be the liaison between the PTC and committees with Marie Murphy.
Secretary - Our secretary position is also open. This individual will take minutes in our meetings.
Treasurer - We need a new treasurer who will collect and receive all funds for the PTC.
Director of Volunteers - The director of volunteers position is also up for election. This will be our lead recruiter for all the events that we have during the school year.
Director of Communications - We are also searching for a new Director of Communications. This will only be a one-year term as the current holder will be moving out of the district. The Director of Communications will be the lead for all marketing and communications efforts for the PTC.

Volunteer Opportunity - Supply Kit Manager at Marie Murphy
We're seeking a volunteer to manage the school supply fundraiser for Marie Murphy. This involves placing orders in March/April and ensuring delivery to classrooms before school resumes in August. It's a fantastic fundraiser that typically earns our PTC around $700! For more details about this role, please reach out to Dorothy Elfring at [email protected] or 773-269-9782.
5th Grade Party
The 5th grade party will be on Friday, May 31! Some friendly reminders:
- Don't forget to fill out the 5th Grade Party Form.
- We are kindly requesting $40 from each family to support the event. Payment options: Pay by card here (preferred), check payable to the Avoca PTC, or cash. Label your payment envelope with your child’s name and teacher. Have your child give this to their teacher or Venmo @clarey2k and include your student's full name.
- Submit a 4x6 physical copy of your child’s kindergarten photo with their name on the back to your class teacher. Email a digital copy of your child’s kindergarten photo with their name in the subject line to [email protected]. Please feel free to also add any other group pictures taken throughout your child's years at AW! These will be used for the video montage.
The deadline for forms, payment, and photos is March 29.
